So have antifreeze getting flung around the engine compartment by the waterpump pully and belt.

Took a quick look and Top elbow is metal and dry at connections. 195000 miles.

What to check first? Im guessing waterpump but might gather some parts before i dig i.

I did the timing cover gasket a couple years ago so im pretty sure its not that. Probably should have done the waterpump then but i am kind of cheap and like to get the full useful life out of stuff.

    Thanks for ideas.

I would have replaced the gasket only if that was the only issue at the time. Replacing a good part for no reason isn't my idea of fun.

It's not bad to do the pump only.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I will keep you posted. Both elbows are fairly new metal so i am assuming they will still be good.

Threw in the waterpump last night.

No real indications that the old one was bad other than inside of pulley had a layer of damp dex sludge even though green has been in for years.

Still drains out as a brownish orangish green.

Not the original pump so someone before me put one in. It Had really small vanes. The new delco pump had much larger vanes. They did use a metal gasket.

Put the new delco pump, new metal gasket, re-lubed the metal elbow o-rings and bolted her together.

So far no leaks so thats a plus!
