For a 2000 Grand Prix GTP, is anyone familiar with the general cost of a replacement driver's side window regulator and a right-rear wheel hub assembly? I'm pricing both of them together online around $100-$200 total...does that sound correct? Only reason I ask is because my local GM dealer today quoted me a price of about $800 each! Seriously?? What's your opinion on this? They said the hub was loose (and didn't recommend driving it) but I haven't experienced any issues driving it. Thanks.

hubs are like 100 ish for a good name brand, regulators are 50 ish. dealers are crooks.

both jobs can be done in the driveway.

Grab an SKF or Timken brand wheel bearing and any regulator you can find. Should be do-able for under $200 including shipping. Heck, you may be able to source one of those bearings locally and most any parts store carries the window reg. Likely the motor is good so all you need is the regulator. I've only had one motor fail on my 00 GT. Multiple regulators.

You may have to fight with the parking brake shoes when doing the rear hub. I think I recall doing that on mine.

my rear hubs were really stuck in the spindles, i used a chisel between them and a baby sledge and a few hits on one side a few on the other and it came out.

I usually buy eBay regulators as seems they are hit or miss no matter where you buy them and replaced them more than a few times when I owned a 97 and 2002. For wheel bearings I had bought Moog bearings once and cheap Detroit Axle on eBay the last time and they held up a year until I sold the car, and were still going.

I would say get a good part but if you are low on funds seems Detroit Axle works pretty well. Cannot say for how long though. I did have to replace the cables to the wheel bearings to get ABS. Which was ironic that I fixed that before I sold it rather than when I owned it.

yea I always have to use a slide hammer for my hubs and if its the front that's bad I wouldn't get Detroit axle they these cars do a ton of work in the front and need a good front bearing but rear is fine if you go with Detroit axle also I would check to make sure the stuff needs to be replaced if there's no play in the hub and it doesn't hum or vibrate with increasing speed it doesn't need to be replaced. if there is noise turn to the side so the car puts all the weight on the bad side if it makes more noise you found you culprit. double check by turning the other way should make less noise. as far as the window reg i would just try to snag one from a junkyard allows you to practice on a junk door so in case you break anything you can know not to do it on your car and I don't think they make oem regs anymore so like you said they are shotty regardless. breaking stuff in the door is assuming your a noob like me
