Well most of you guys know the story with my 08 GP. These last few weeks its been running good. But I am going to trade it in for a new vehicle within the next week or so. Im wondering what I can expect to get with 190k miles on it and a crack in the windshield on the far right side? On top of that, yesterday I was driving home and a rock from a truck hit my windshield and made two more cracks right in the center. If Im getting rid of it, does it make sense to repair the shield? I was thinking about getting that epoxy stuff from autozone today to at least fix the new center cracks before they expand. The one I have on my right side is already at the end of the glass so I know it's not going to get worse but this new one will. What do you think about current value of car and about fixing the shield?

geez how close do you drive behind people haha but anyway I don't think it brings up the value that much unless youre greasy about it and put on a cheap windshield that will only last a few years right before you trade it but id do it right before because if its cheap enough to increase the value it will probably scratch super easy

lol im just cracking jokes but yea theres really not much you can do to a car that will increase its value right before sale more that what it cost to do the fix. a home is a different story.

for some reason i have people occasionally ask me what they can do to help sell their car for the best price. i always respond with "do a complete detail and make it shine. "
first impressions can make a turd sell for high $$$$

that is true a good clean is cheap and easy to greatly increase the value of your car didn't use my noggin haha but as far a buying new parts there isn't many things that can increase the value like as if you redid the bathroom on a home that had a modern look all around but bathroom from the 60s that will be worth it

maybe touch up a few problem areas in the paint as well but a full respray isn't worth it

I mean besides having 191k on it and a large crack on the right side of the windshield plus the TPMS light is on and I dont know how to get both the yellow icon on the dash or the message on the HUD to go away, the other issues I can hide. Also the CEL is on either because of a bad Catalytic converter or a faulty downstream O2 sensor as the upstream was already changed. If I was selling it privately I would get all this stuff fixed, but to a dealer who may not even get inside and test drive, Im really struggling with how much to do? Im definitely not getting a new windshield but I was thinking about replacing the O2 sensor and hoping the CEL goes away. I have none of the symptoms of a bad CC. The kelly BB is only between $300 and $700 which really sucks as I've put in over 5k of money into it.

only $300 to $700? might be better to just part out the good parts lol and then scrap the remaining that's what im doing to mine once the transmission or something else major goes (will probably be the trans though) im taking apart everything on this dang car that is aftermarket or in decent condition to sell theyre going to have to tow this thing away on pop bottle crates. ive been towed a few times and talking to all the guys working they say its actually pretty easy they do it whenever someone gets all 4 wheels stolen. most of them even say it easier then towing someone with one flat tire who would've thought

no wonder theres like 20 grand prixs at my junkyard at a time half of them seeming to be in better condition then mine people are probably making more money selling a running car to the junkyard then wasting their time at a stealership or craigslist

If you have comprehensive on your insurance, they will replace the windshield for you and a lot of insurances (I know mine in particular) won't increase your rates for a windshield replacement because its considered a safety hazard. Other than that I would give it old wash n wax and sell it cheap privately. $1000 is more than the couple hundred the dealer might give you for it. They will just give you low-ball and send the car to auction as is.

Being that you need to keep any costs down, I'd look for windshields on car-part.com and figure out how to pick one up that is taken out of the car. Also setup a company to install it. I found a place that sold the windows for $75 each already removed from the car and a guy that installed for around $75 both front and back windows. Guy did it between a couple of calls and I was totally cool with that for the price. $150 I had both windows fixed on a car I had bought for cheap with some damage.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
