My car is parked on a steep hill downhill and ive ran out of gas , i put 4 gallons and it still wont start. Is it because of the fuel pump or the fact that its on an unlevel surface

When you turn the key, can you hear the pump run?

Maybe have someone stick their head by the rear driver wheel and see if they can hear it hum when you turn the ignition on two clicks without starting it.

You can also check for fuel pressure at the Schrader valve at the top center of the motor on the fuel rail.

4 gallons should be enough to get it started.

Well, I’d say turn the key to On without attempting to start it, then open the hood and take the cap off the shrader valve on the top of the motor, get a thick disposable cloth and press the valve in to see if you have pressure.

Be careful because it comes out FAST and it’s gasoline so have no type of spark or flame nearby.

Also if you do have help available, have them put an ear close to the back drivers side wheel area and listen while you do that, because once you bleed some pressure off the fuel rail, you might be able to hear the pump kick on to push more fuel.

I would check for fuel at the shrader valve on your fuel rail, just go key on and see if you are getting fuel out of the shrader

I would quit letting it run down to empty and park on a level surface.
