    hey everyone,

im having this odd grinding noise on my right front wheel that is only per revolution and if my foot is even slightly on the brake the noise is gone and its very faint can only hear it with the window down and something has to be to the right off me for the noise to ricochet and I can hear it clear. I just changed the hub last night thinking it was the bearing, just did pads and rotors less than 500 miles ago and the fbody calipers and ss brake lines have around 10k miles what could this be. I cant think of anything else that could be wrong?

Check the dust shield. I'd bet it's bent and is touching ever so slightly. Quite common even though everyone swears they didn't bend it.

On the 97-03 GP's, in the front, there is no dust shield, aka backing plate. However, it's likely the little arm that holds the ABS sensor. Probably touching the rotor.

there is a shield, not a full one as if the caliper was on the back of the rotor like a lot of cars have it. but where the abs plug part of it is what is most likely the rub.

that part was rubbing on mine, like i said, stuck in the snow, heard it once spring time came around.

it tends to get bent when doing a full brake job, or a hub, cause it comes off when doing a hub. mystery stuff happens then lol

turn the wheels to the side you hear it from, lay down and look at the bottom of the rotor where that plug is, with a screw driver pry it back some.

if this has been going on for some time now you might even see a line scored in the rotor, like i had on mine.

That plate was close but not touching bent it back a little but also noticed the pad shims had so wear on them as if the rotors diameter was too large for them if you can imagine lol so I tried to bend them in as much as I could and grinded the outside of the rotor just a bit so hopefully that will take care of it any other ideas or probably just grind the rotor more to bring down the diameter
