There are 4 line on my 2001 GT coupe steering rack. Two of them of them come out of the rack near the steering and go right back into the body of the rack. Mine are rotted. They come on a replacement rack, but I can't locate them individually. Does anyone know what they are called specifically and where I might find them?

    thanks

Not sure what they are called, but I'd imagine you could score some used ones at a junkyard.

thanks but that link doesn't work for me. I have found those lines are referred to as rack lines, hydraulic lines, transfer lines and a host of other things, but I can't find replacements specific to the 01 grand Prix GT.

I really didn't want to spend the money on a new rack, ACDelco reman $145, but maybe thats the way to go. the rack comes with new inner tie rods and mine has 177000 on it.

I'm lowering the engine cradle to do the 4th gear clutch hub anyway so I might as well do the rack.

If you haven't replaced the front sway bar now would be a good time for that as well. The factory ones like to crack at the eye where the endlink bolts through it. Dorman bar is larger and is solid, where the factory is hollow.

If you do go to replace the entire rack be sure to check if yours has Magnasteer or not. If you have an electrical connector coming off the rack near the steering shaft boot and connected somewhere around the top of the trans, then you have Magnasteer.
