    Hello Everyone!

first time here, I have gone through a lot of forum posts and have learned a lot, but I do have some questions remaining.

Firstly, I had just bought this car my gf of a long time a week ago. The stock radio does not light up, and since we have an aftermarket one from her old car My plan was to install it into this car to keep her happy

I haven't really had the chance to see if it has a monsoon system in it, I read that the radio will say monsoon when it is first turned on, but since the display doesn't work, I am not to sure how to check if this car has that or not. How do I go about checking if it there?

The car does not have onstar, or steering wheel controls at all, so I think I will need the GMOS-01 adapter, but again I am not sure with not knowing if I have the monsoon. Is there anything else I should look out for when choosing which adapter I will need?

Also I have been told with installing an aftermarket i could lose the DIC, is this true?

I already purchased the Single DIN install kit.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jamie

Is there a speaker in the middle of the dash if so you have monsoon if not then well you don't.

    GMOS-01 for non monsoon
    GMOS-04 monsoon

The only function of the Dic that you'll lose is the date feature everything else will be fine.

I got the GMOS-01 because I don't have monsoon. I do have a question though on the wiring for this.

On the 16 pin connector it tells me to connect the red wire to the radios ignition power wire, but on the 16 pin connector I have two red wires coming out of it. which one, or both, do I use for this connection?

Also, I seem to have an Illumination wire, and a dimmer wire coming off of the 24 pin connector, and a dimmer wire coming off the 16 pin connector. The metra guide says to use the dimmer wire of the 16 pin connector, but my Aftermarket radio guide says it doesn't support dimmer settings, which leads me to believe i should be using the illumination wire off of the 24 pin connector, is that a correct assumption?
