Soo just like the title says i've got a major problem with my traction control system. I get all the ABS warning and service system soon lights. Brakes really suck rn. Sometimes if I don't wait for all the warning lights the brakes will clamp down or start to pulse while driving. I've replaced the driver front hub harness and that did nothing. My guess is the ABS module or one of the front wheel hubs. Any thoughts or helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

What is the code you are getting? The module can be sent out and rebuilt if needed, I have not had it done but I heard it is much cheaper than replacing.

I had a similar problem and found it was one of the wheel hub assembly bolts had worked its way loose slightly, allowing rain water to seep in and setting off the ABS/Traction Control lights and/or experiencing pulsating brakes. This was several months after changing the wheel hub assy on the front passenger side. The water tended to stay inside the hub for days or weeks even without rain or going through a car wash. I finally found the problem after the steering got so sloppy it prompted me to inspect the steering components for the cause.

My grand am has a lose connector to the wheel hub, and it has caused some strange issues, like go to press on the brake and abs pushes back for no reason for a second and then pops the lights on, or trac control activating even when their is no wheel slip at all and cutting power, light comes on again. Mine always resets when i turn the car off tho. Lose connections can cause some really strange things. I cleaned my sensor and everything, still does it on occasion......like yesterday lol. I have an ebay special hub assembly, so that may be why

I've discovered something weird. As soon as the steering wheel is turned to the right all the ABS warning lights come on.

I have the replacement harness for the passenger front (already did driver front) but I'm not really sure if that's going to fix the problem. Just kind've lost here.

All my lights came on a few years ago. After it got annoying enough, and I tried new hubs, I bought an ABS module off Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and all was well. Takes maybe an hour to carefully disconnect fluid lines and harness, and $40-50 later it was over.

^^^I'd been hoping the module wasn't the problem. I'll get one either from the that site or local salvage, if I have to. But, don't the new modules need to be programmed?

Worked without programming. It should be listed on that site as Anti-Lock Brake Pump.

Might be noteworthy to add that the ABS/TCS lights almost always came on when turning the wheel sharply to the left. The lights rarely went off otherwise. I thought it HAD to be wiring harness problem where the harness was being pulled while turning, but using an ohmmeter to check out the harness from the hub assy to the ABS module checked OK, even while pulling on the harness and/or turning the wheels. Because the problem didn't occur until the wheels started spinning, checking it out while parked didn't do any good. If the steering didn't get obviously sloppy, I probably would still be looking for the problem, lol. After correcting the somewhat loose wheel hub bolt, I didn't realize that the two issues were related.

So if I get an abs module from salvage or eBay do I need to match up the model numbers and year? Mines an 08. Or does that even matter?

I would try to get it as close as possible, to ensure compatibility. Not sure if the '08 computer changes extended to that module, so that's why you want to be safe

One more question. Does the module need to come off a gxp? Seems reasonably safe to assume all the modules are the same on w body's.

GXP has the extra stability control, so I'd research if the modules were different. I believe car-part has some separate categories, and you can see if there's listings on GM parts sites.

Replaced passenger front hub harness today and cleaned the connections and still no luck. What's that leave both front hubs or a break in the wiring I haven't found?

Might be the module setup needs to be mated with the car's system. Did everything stay stationary during install, and was it from an equivalent vehicle?

You could try disconnecting the battery overnight and re-connecting in the morning, to reset things. Simple hail mary attempt, before going deeper.

    Whelp I've replaced;
    -both front hubs
    -both front hub harnesses
    -abs module/pump

And still have no working abs. Do I have to replace my rear hubs to fix this issue or is this ghosts?
