    Im going to be doing a DOD cam swap on my 2005 GXP in the next month or so. I also want to add some hp to the car while i have the engine tore down. So far the list of parts im going to buy includes;

    Lifters x16
    Lifter guides x4
    Head gaskets x2
    Head bolt kit x2
    Balancer bolt x1
Front water pump cover to block gaskets
    modified valley cover
    LS6 cam
    LS6 intake
    pushrods
    valve springs

Im open to suggestions on what else I could buy to boost more hp. Im also open to suggestions on a better cam/intake setup. Im not looking for a monster cam setup, just something more mild. Also whats a good header setup, i see doug thorley headers alot. Thanks in advance for any help.

I bought my 2008 Grand Prix GXP last month and am looking at doing a similar build, but not in the near future. Doug Thorley headers are the only option, except for the Ebay OBX knockoffs. I was looking at both, the DT headers have a silver ceramic coating inside and out, while the OBX knockoffs do not. the DT headers are 200 more, unless you can find a better price than 650, which is what I found. take a look at these builds for other ideas:

    http://ls1tech.com/forums/ls4-perfor...-n-builds.html

also keep in mind, that as far as I know, any 4.8/5.3/6.0 LS1/LS6 cam will work in the LS4 engine.

If you going through the trouble of camming the motor, I'd toss something a little more aggressive than a LS6 cam in there. In the trucks going to a 212/218 with a 114 LSA or close to that is great with a stock converter. I would assume it would work okay in the cars.

You forgot valve seals as well. You also need a new timing set with chain and new ls2 damper. Opt for thinner heasgaakets. Ypubonly need 1 headbolt kit. Lots of brake cleaner.

ok, after some digging around I think im going with a comp cam I found on Summits website ( lift is 212/218 and LSA is 115). any suggestions on a timing setup or could I just buy a stock replacment and be ok (i have seen c5-r chain offered by cloyes mentioned several times on other forums)? and does anybody have any suggestions for roller rockers (should i upgrade).

    See post above yours.

The common option is just a new chain with an upgraded dampner.

Stock rockers work for everything, leave them be.

I will be posting some pics here later today. I started tearing everything down and getting it ready to be pulled. Im going to pull it out the top with an engine hoist. I had heard these motors were difficult to pull, but i didnt expect it to be this crazy. Its gonna be a task for sure. I plan on building the motor to be able to handle about 20-30 lbs of boost. I going to add a supercharger next year at some point.

you don't have to pull the motor...you can do it all in the car...now this supercharger build....20 to 30lb psi?? Details??

That motor has to come out, 30 psi will require everything to be studded and upgraded .

the cartuning turbo kit makes 500 hp at the wheels with 10 lbs of boost, 20-30 lbs of boost with a supercharger doesn't make sense to me, but I'm just a keyboard jockey.

I know they make superchargers that can put out 20 psi but I'm not sure finding an application for my car would be cheaper or easier than a turbo.

The only forced induction kit is the car tuning turbo kit. Any supercharger you want to install will take a large amount of customization
