Just wondering who all has had issues with the clearance on the radiator fans with this speed daddy headers

Mine seem to be pressed almost right up against it and when it's not touching if I accelerate it does and I can feel it through the body.

My question is I plan to buy to slim fans and I was wondering if anybody knew how wide of an area I have to work with? radiator looks like about 31 inches wide so I'm thinking two 14 inch fans should work just fine... Any thoughts?

04+ cars have more of any issue than 97-03 cars.

Depending on where its rubbing, but cut that part of the fan guard or grind away some of it so it clears. Solid motor mounts would also help limit engine movement.

Slimmer fans will give you clearance, but like I said in the other thread...

If you had poly uppers or flipped DB's...OR solid lowers like Cam suggested then that would limit movement. You can also modify the fan shrouds or beat the **** out of the header with a rubber mallet to shove it in the crossover more. We moved the AC lines in an '04 Imp SS to clearance the front header, and cut off some of the plastic shround with a dremel to make room. Doesn't have to be pretty but as long as it works, right?

Local here (deangtp) has a 2" aluminum rad + two 14" slimfans like you're planning on getting, and that damn thing keeps pretty friggen cool.

I have all new mounts. Flipping the dog bones is not going to push my motor towards the firewall am I right? If that's the case I'll go do it now..

The middle outlet off the front header is touching the passenger METAL Fan casing. Theres nothing to shave. The front header attaches to the motor. Nothing to move. My crossover doesn't leak so I'd have to assume I've got it in to my satisfaction. (that's what she said) Iol

I'm guessing I got a bad batch of headers because I had to grind the front header for it to fit inside crossover.. Horrible flange job. I didn't even get clamps from them.

Now I'm sure you solved your problem that way but mine was best solved with new fans.. besides that will give me plenty of room later depending on the route I go with the vehicle.

I'll have before and after shots if anyone is interested in seeing them in a few days.

I had to take the metal piece off mine. It has been fine for 60k miles with no issues.. had to bend my a/c line a little bit also. no issues. clearance is stupid though cant run shorter dog bones or anything but whatever.

flipping the dog bone mounts will hold the engine tight right where you looking at it sitting in park. if you look into the mount from the side, it tells the whole story.

in park, im sure if you grab the sc snout, and push and pull the engine, it will move some. flip the mounts, and all that moment is now gone.

It's pretty firm with very little movement as it is. The problem is sitting in park its less than a mm away.. And yes I did remove the metal shield.. But get this I didn't have to bend any ac lines lol.

Edit... scratch that my brother says he did move the ac lines some.

Are yours the SLP style or Pacesetter style headers?

That'll tell lots...If you bought Speed Daddy's, because they had a bad batch at one point where a handful of people got ***ked.

    I have the speed daddy's.

I also flipped my dog bones everyone recommended it and even with new bushings its firmer yet. But as someone said it's still the same distance away.

I should get the fans tomorrow might have time to get them in.

Weren't people with this issue using Bonne (92-99) fans beause they are slimmer? May be an easy option.

Got the new fans in earlier. A lot more room now.

I took the metal cover off the stock fans didn't help. I've already pretty much accepted I have a bad set of SD's but the fans were easier then trying to get a new set of headers or paying for shipping back and yada yada. I'm sure these fans have a higher CFM rating then stock being that they are 14".. At less than $50 for both shipped I'm happy to have the space.

Where did you get them fans for under $50? I just ordered the speed daddys off ebay because they were sold out on the website and with it being so recent, maybe it is a bad batch. Lol. So just trying to be prepared in case that happens to me. Thanks.
