Driving my car today and I noticed the AC wasn't very cold suddenly.. look at my temps and the car is running at 240! I was about a minute from home.

Got home popped the hood and the passenger side cooling fan wasn't spinning. I thought there is the problem. turn the car off and the fan starts spinning as they usually do when the car 1st turns off.

Is the fan bad or is it something else since it still spins when the car is off?

Anyone have any info on this? I don't want to buy new fans if it's a relay or something

unplug the temp sensor, both fans should turn on full speed. if they do you know they both work. and the temp sensor is likely bad. or its little harness there that bakes in the heat of the exhaust.

Tired your method Scotty and it didn't change also the harness appears to be in good working order.. Here is what I did find..

Both fans run they kick on at 185*. I have a 180 t-stat so the fans must be tuned. Ac blowing.. passenger side fan turns off at 195* and stays off. I turned off the AC and the fan kicks back on.

I just recently fixed the AC as it never worked since owning it so this may have always been a issue just didn't know.

It may be worth mentioning that the AC diode in the engine bay fuse box was melted before I redid the AC system and was replaced at the same time and is not melted at this time

try swapping the fan relay around, maybe its bad. both fans should come on ect unplugged.

Started messing with the relays. When messing with fan 2 (driver side) relay fan 1 came on. Pulled fan 2 relay, fan 2 shut off and fan 1 stayed on. pushed fan 2 relay back in fan 1 shut off again.. Pulled fan 2 relay again out just a little bit and fan 1 came on and stayed on up to 204*. So both fans were working.

Shut the car off let it cool and re-applied the same test and fan 1 stayed on with ac running and up to 205* with the relay pulled out just a small amount.

I'm going to have the battery unplugged tomorrow for a unrelated mantainace so I'll separate the fuse box and check those connections.

More good news I got a cylinder 1 misfire during this. lol gp life!
