    Hi All,

I went to a smaller pulley and have been seeing some knock. I know I apparently need a tune, and potentially more supportin mods for a permanent fix. In the interim ive been adding a little bit of e85 to the 93 i normally run. Assuming a true e85 blend from the pump(ranges from 51-83 where i live) I should be running around an e20 blend. Thats about 10% more than pump. It killed about 4* of my 7* of KR and i have none under partial throttle.
I know the car was running rich prior, and this should ammount to requiring about 4% more fuel.

Long story short, is there any major danger in me doing this? Obviously i have to keep the dilution low, but it seems like the ECU should be able to adapt to a 4-5% fueling change.

No harm at all. Most of these cars can run up to about e40 without any changes. I'd mix it stronger.

there's a dhp for sale on facebook for 300, why not snatch it up real quick and use it to tune for all out E85? you could also get an ethanol content tester for like 20 bucks off amazon then you would be better equipped to know what your actual ethanol level is. when I was running E85, it was actually E70, so in your case that would be better.

If i Get a tuner, how much of a blend can the stock injectors handle? Lets say i want to run a 3.4 inch pulley without upgrading my injectors.

Stock injectors will only support about a 3.6 pulley on e85.

I ordered HP tuners today. Should be here this weekend.

The plan is to tune the car for e50 until I get some bigger injectors. I'm currently on a 3.5 pulley. I dont think im going to have fueling problems.

I get my tuner today, and im planning to set the injector to 1.18. Since e50 is 40% more than pump but 35 less than e85. Anyone have any thoughts on if this makes sense?
I would just go for full E, but i have a 3.5 pulley

i'm not sure how to tune for E85 on 04+ cars. we need a sticky on directions for it though. if you have facebook you could message zeph hattan and he could help you out with advice or if you paid him he could do your tune altogether. he charges like 75 bucks.

you could still do full E85 on that pulley, just monitor injector duty cycle to see how much fueling headroom you have. your fuel pump might need a rewire at some point so it gets the juice it needs.

edit: I didn't realize your car was series 2, you can use the tuning guide on here to tune your car.

Setting cylinder gain to 1.18 should work fine.

This is good information. We have station here in IL that has different E mixtures...E10, E15, E30, etc. It's very convenient, especially on my WRX that has an E30 tune. No mixing needed. I have an '05 GTP, and have wondered what mixture E mixture I could run with stock injectors and fuel pump. Is E30 or E40 a safe bet?

on my regal which has the series 2 with 33lb injectors (not sure about the series 3) I maxed out on e85 with a 3.5 inch pulley. I had to tune for the full e85, but i ran e30 for a while to calm my KR. I believe you can run e30 without issue on a stock tune and injectors with 3.4 pulley or larger. In your other thread you mentioned a 3.4 pulley, and headers, if you see knock you can mix in some e85 to calm it down.

Currently, I'm in the process of adding the headers/DP/Catback, and then I'll change the pulley. I'm still doing research on what pulley size to start with. Somewhere between 3.4 and 3.6. But that's good to know that I have the E85 option to reduce the KR. I also plan on getting the HP Tuner Pro, and try to learn the whole tuning part. Should be fun.

Throw injectors on your longterm mod list, then you can tune for e85 and run a much smaller pulley. The injectors max out before the Fuel Pump.
