Random late update: Got the exhaust leak checked out, they found the only leak to be from the flexpipe so cut that one off and replaced it. Definitely feels much better/more responsive BUT I still hear that faint sound of a plastic bag caught on something and flapping under acceleration. Meh...

Dont mess around with exhaust gasses, (carbon monoxide), if you still hear what sounds like an exhaust leak, The description: "faint sound of a plastic bag caught on something and flapping under acceleration"
is a sure sign of an exhaust leak, so keep looking for it, and find it.
If must be noted that some exhaust leaks only happen when the exhaust system is cold, and as the gaskets, manifolds, and exhaust pipes warm up to operating temperature,
the exhaust leak closes, and less sound is heard. Sometimes the opposite applies, the leak is not heard when the engine is cold, but as the engine warms up, the leak becomes larger
allowing more gasses to pass through the gap making a rapid "tick, tick, tick" type noise under acceleration. But of course we all know this, and it must be taken into consideration when
an inspection is performed. However, some custom exhaust systems with headers allow more sound to pass through the thin wall piping, sounds that could be mistake for
    an exhaust leak.

If you can hear it, then it is a fairly large exhaust leak.

Well I definitely don't have any custom headers...just good 'ole original rusty manifolds LOL. Only thing non-oem is the downpipe and new flex pipe. I don't know, some people (not here) are telling me it's just normal engine noise and that I'm on crack. Car runs a lot better now with the new flex pipe but the very, very faint sound is still there. Definitely a lot louder when getting boost though. I'm at a loss really, I don't want to bother other people more about the same thing especially if they aren't seeing an issue but I have no way of confirming myself what I'm hearing. Most people can't hear it anyway because it's that faint, plus regular engine noise drowns it out pretty well for most people.

When I was hunting an exhaust leak I aimed my leaf blower at the tail pipe and crawled under car and felt for leaks. You don't want to jam the leaf blower in the exhaust, just aim it at the tail pipe. I think it's possible to blow seals if you use too much pressure.

This may be a terrible idea, dunno, but it worked for me.

seafoam it, then have some one rev it while you look for the smoke leaking out of any leaks.

leaf blower is genus really. you not blowing any seals out.

I had been thinking about the sea foam for a good while and I guess it might be best option at this point - don't own a leaf blower lol but that sounds interesting. However I'm getting increasingly worried about that LIM leak and really need to prioritize that as well...usually when I get home from work and turn it off, I can find a bit of orange popped up in one of the crevices along the front edge base of the s/c, and I remember in fall there was coolant pooled around injector #3 too. I'd show a pic but...photo buckets a you-know-what lately and I need to make an account elsewhere. Probably imgur.

just had a similiar issue on my car, (hissing noise, lack of power) ended up being that little egr pipe from under the throttle body had a small crack and was leaking. causing a large vacuum leak. but I was throwing a lean code p0171 I think and random missfire.
just blocked it off and called it a day.

I just read someone else's post on resolving similar issues with basically checking all vacuum lines and replacing as needed...I do still feel I have something going on like a vacuum leak, and hear these guys are notorious for them so I'm gonna have to look all of that when I can...I had to borrow my mom's car to go to work today because when I started'im this morning was misfiring badly and I'm thinking it's the ICM - but I won't know until i get home and test it. My dad's GP recently had his ICM go and boy was that a bad misfire - I thought I had it bad before haha. Funny though, that car has something over 210k mi and it lasted quite a bit.

I think I'm going to have to replace vacuum lines and such until I know there can't be anything wrong in that area, or it gets better - it just sucks that most people can't hear what I hear under acceleration (I feel like I must be a fennec fox or something) so it's like I'm on my own trying to figure out what/where it's coming from.

Blargh. So my car is not technically misfiring anymore like he was this morning, but definitely way more sluggish acceleration and harder to get boost. No clue where this came from. I know he didn’t get driven at all over the weekend, but have never had issues like this just for letting him take a couple of days off. I have been filling up with V-power every week for months now and he’s been good, usually after 7 days I have a half tank left and will fill it up again at around that point. I know last week I ended up having to fill up at a Speedway, but I did still use 93 and he ran fine the whole week. Wouldn’t that be funny if it were him not liking the leftovers from that gas station..
