I have had my car sitting since May due to working out of town, but when I went to go start it today it had a hard start and smoke coming from rear of the engine. At first I thought valve seals but from what I have read is that will make blue smoke so now I'm not sure. I'll be doing the Lim, water pump, valve cover seals, and a shift kit here soon on the car just wondering if I need to add more to the list.

I don't want to start a new thread so another question, should I replace my lifters also since I'm doing the VC gasket and Lim? I also was reading and saw I should also change out my heater core hoses?

not unless they are ticking up a storm. im a huge fan of dont fix whats not broken.

hoses get old, could be factory still. if they are soft or look like crap, change em. my parts store didnt even have em in stock, so make sure what they are giving you is a match.

you could do LS7 lifters, they are a direct replacement and work good.

New hoses are short money for peace of mind. Both heater hoses AND both rad hoses should run under $100.

For injector orings, all 4 hoses, and the thermostat o ring it's only 50 from rockauto so will swap them out also for peace of mind. And I don't believe my lifters are ticking either so those can stay.

on rockauto, buy the magnum lim kit, it comes with o rings for the t stat, under the blower and the injectors. its like 42 bucks too. ive used that kit before, its perfect. make sure you get the metal kit.

I already bought the Lim gasket, I wasn't the brightest and bought it off zzp so I definitely didn't get the best deal. Wish I would have got the one you said, same price even.

I'm not seeing it. Zzp sells the lim gaskets for $40. Rockauto has them for $44.

they looked and felt just like a felpro. used felpro years ago for its maint lim job.

only reason i used the magnum 2 times is cause i installed a ic with ported lim. what came off looked as if i could have reused them. (a year old) but im not gonna be that guy for 42 bucks. i did save them tho. never know what might come at ya in life.

When you do the valve cover gaskets make sure you do the grommets at the same time . They are what puts pressure on the seals. Also.. if you bought them from ZZP, enjoy the poor fitment.

I did get the grommets at the same time. Which part from zzp will fit pourly the grommets or valve cover gasket? And should I just buy some new ones?

Nevermind seeing that the grommets are Fel pro, I'm guessing it's the valve cover gasket

Yes.. the gasket is made to fit their own valve covers and are pulled tight in the corners. After showing a few people the differences, they went and bought the fel pro gaskets to be much happier. Here's some pics from ZZP gaskets on stock covers.

Those were about 5 years back, so bear that in mind in case they decided to update their molds (doubtful).
