So, I was just about to get down and dirty and start doing some of own small repairs. I even took off the tail light and replaced the bulb, by myself.

Then... my check engine light went on. I had sort of a rough start and then I noticed the light .

I went straight to Auto Zone (my 2nd time today) and they ran the scanner for me for free. It gave code P0300 and the printout they gave me said:
CYLINDER MISFIRE DETECTED - RANDOM CYLINDERS
    EXPLANATION:
THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE MONITORS THE CRANKSHAFT SPEED AND HAS DETECTED A MISFIRE CONDITION.
    PROBABLE CAUSE:
1- IGNITION SYSTEM FAULT - SPARK PLUG(S), IGNITION WIRES, COIL
    2- VACUUM LEAK
    3- INJECTOR FAULT
4- HIGH OR LOW FUEL PRESSURE

I KNOW I am leaking some oil (the mechanic told me) and he recommended I replace the valve cover gaskets as well as intake manifold gaskets. He also recommended I replace my upper and lower radiator hoses (which I was going to do before the engine light went on).

My question is, how do I figure out which of these things it is? I don't know how to do ANYTHING. I google everything to try to figure out directions, but I'm trying to get a friend to do some of the work for me. Will fixing any of the things I already knew needed to be replaced get rid of this light?

I'm so scared to drive the car now that the check engine light is on.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

    Thanks,
    C

just like 01 gtp said. find out what the ohms should be on coils. and do the same for the wire but move the wires around a bit to check for breaks in the leads. thats a start

could be a fould plug a loose plug wire faulty coil fualty coil conection
    basically start with the easiest
make sure wires are all connected securley, plugs arent damaged
you can test the ohms on the wires you will need a basic multi metter they sell at sears for around 20 bucks
Honestly it gets frustrating diagnoising problems like that so good luck
gpona.com has a gm service manual link on it maybe that might help you out
