Possibly the heater core leaking coolant? Oil dripping on the front header from the valve cover?

I would say it is a coolant leak. I had that smell when I forgot to tighten up my thermostat housing after I did my lim gaskets

it might be time to do that LIM gasket, We all have to do it, even though we don't want too!!!!!! Mine did the same thing till I tracked it to the LIM.good luck.

If you have an older engine, like 01 or something, If you used conventional, or if the previous owner used conventional, and you change to synthetic, the sealants might have eroded away and were replaced by just rings of 'dried oil' if you will. When you switch to synthetic it actually cleans out these rings, leaving a gap and causing a small oil leek. I sadly took forever to get the dang things replaced becuase labor is a pain in the butt. The previous owner said she used synthetic, but apparently, she didnt -.o
