    '04 GP with 258k on it. Last night stopped at a gas station. Started the car and the oil pressure light/sensor tripped (not the oil level) and had this warning. Put the car in park and it went off. Waited a second and then put in reverse, it popped up again but then disappeared once more. Drove over an hour home with no issues. Assuming its a sensor issue maybe a dirty pigtail etc. I figured to just replace the sensor as a precaution. Oil level was fine and I can't imagine the oil pump is on the way out at all? That seems not to be a weak point. I routinely run synthetic with regular oil changes every 5k.

    Let me know if its most likely a sensor on the way out.

    Did you hear any ticking/clicking coming from the engine when driving?

    Either try and new sensor, or get an oil pressure kit and see what that reads. Being that is was intermittent, safe to guess that it is the sender or wiring.

    thats the one in oil filter housing. when you install the new one dont drive it in to deep just make it snug. theres should be sealant on the threads stop when its into the sealant. its a npt thread meaning its tapered and will crack the housing if driven in to far.

    No odd noises whatsoever, engine was completely normal with no change at all. Recently changed the oil too, maybe 1k ago.

    Thanks for the tip on the NPT thread, I will not over tighten, perfect insight I appreciate it

    being ive changed it a few times now. i recommend jacking the front wheel up and removing it, then reach it to it with channel locks and re move it. it will take a socket but its in a bad place to work the ratchet. install the same way.

    you'll see a line showing how deep the old one was in, you can likely eye ball em and mark the new one in the thread sealant as to about how far it should go in too.

    and being ive changed it a few times, this cause even new they tend to fail where they leak oil, (leaks out the plug end) so keep a eye on the new one for a while.

    What oil did you use when you changed it? a 0w or 5w can have the engine running a little lower on pressure due to it being thin,
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
