The car will shift hard when it's not in performance shift mode. It will jolt the car and it will even jolt when the converter goes into lockup. But when I have performance shift on it shifts smooth and perfect. I'm thinking it's gonna be a sensor but I'm new to the 4T65 HD

Note: the car does have a check engine light on and when I got it scanned, code P1811 came up. The explanation was "the ECM has detected the shift execution time has exceeded the required shift time period" it goes on to say that some probable causes could be, A1- trailer towing may falsely set code (I don't tow) A2- low line pressure, plugged filter or pump, A3- computer relearn may be required

A2 makes sense to me since performance shift probably just boosts your line pressure so it would make up for any lack of pressure while it's not in performance shift mode

a shift kit is a good band aid fix for that code.

What do you think the real fix would be though?
