Well, just did trans swap into the stock Regal.

Picking it up, i check for leaks, leave it running for a little while to make sure before i set off on a 20 mile drive with it home.

Well, everything looks okay and i set off with the wife behind me in the 04 GTP. Before the swap the car made the usual clatter from a bad coupler (Just haven't gotten around to replacing yet..)
This clatter is still there as i'd have expected but seems more pronounced, Almost like a cracked flexplate would sound. Instant heebie jeebies...

So we pull over and check on it in a lighted parking lot, It doesn't sound like it's coming underneath so much. We then get on the Turnpike and she's running smooth as a baby's bottom, Shifts are smooth, Slip is minimal to none, MPG's are excellent as i'd expect and the HPT doesn't indicate anything glaringly wrong with the car.

Coming off the highway i kinda sense a very faint transmission fluid smell, Then when pulling off at the light the transmission refuses to really let the car go till about 3,000rpm, And it's only getting worse. I get it into my condo parking lot and proceed to back it in when it just refuses completely to move....Uh oh. Then i see smoke coming out underneath and out of the hood...

Let her run for a little and try to back up again, and see more smoke, and hear a metallic squeak...NOT GOOD, so i shut her down and employ the help of some kind folks nearby backing it in to my carport. Notice a nice big and slick spot of trans fluid fluid while backing it in in neutral..

I went over the HPT log after we got in and after the car started slipping, the engine started heating up at a much more rapid pace than previously as well as faster than the trans fluid itself. On the second log i noticed Cyl6 was misfiring quite badly...

    So my question is,
What do you guys think went wrong?

on a more serious note...not enough duct tape

ok so probaby need to go thru and change all the gaskets in the trans as well as fluid change

That sucks, where'd you get the trans? Sounds like you sprung a leak. Cyl 6 misfire could be a broken plug or mis-seated wire that got jostled in doing the trans swap. Find your leak an fill er back up and see what happens. Damage may already been done though.

Cyl 6 was not misfiring on the way home. Only started after i shut her down and started it back up after the trans freaked out.

Determine where the fluid was coming out.
    Breather?
    Trans dipstick tube?

Losing trans fluid and slipping makes an engine work more because it's not transmitting the power properly.

Not to sound harsh, when you smell something and see something, turn the car off and find out what's up so you don't burn it down.

Once you refill the trans after figuring out the leak, it'll likely be fine. You need to figure out the leak and misfire though.

Fires don't wait a couple blocks typically. I'm glad you made it and all was good overall, it's your car and your life you take the risk with.

It wasn't smoking when i got off the highway. It only smoked once i got in position to back into my carport.

It started off slipping mildly but got exponentially worse with every time i had to scrub speed off once i got off the highway

I can post the HPT scans if you care to look?

I'm more interested in where it leaked from. Scan isn't going to tell us what leaked, why it leaked or how it leaked. It's just going to show temps and slippage. None of that is really going to help me assist you.
