So since I recently re-acquired a w-body, I've been scouring the dark recesses of the internet for 3800/4T65e performance parts. I see that Milzy motorsports is now producing a 1" gear set for the 4T65e. Priced at $1850, it isn't exactly cheap but at least it's readily available. Unlike the unicorn fart GMR 1" gear set.

Wondering what peoples thoughts are on this.

You might as well buy it. You know you'll be building that trans for the turbo build once you gut the SC.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

It's not out of the question. The 60e building business gives me some disposable income. I could build a really killer trans just for the cost of parts. I still have all the 4T65e tools. That Regal would be a good candidate for a turbo build. Having a TIG welder helps too.

We'll see what the future holds for the old Buick...

I think not getting the 2.93 would be a deal breaker. If they made the 2.93 I would entertain the idea. End goal for this car is to be a ripper but retain decent highway mileage.

I'm curious if it's a different experience buying an off the shelf part vs having work done. Boxing up a part and shipping it is kind of hard to screw up.

It doesn't look like Milzy's chain is much if any stronger than the GXP chains. At least one has been broken already after a few 10 second passes. They are nowhere even close to the GMR chains.

You can replace the GXP chains probably 10 times for one of Milzy's.

Not to mention he has a few lawsuits against him now for stealing money.

I'm over here just pipe dreaming. I'll never need anything more than the Gemini chain set. Who am I kidding.

Are you interested in a real GMR chain set?

Maybe? I'm sure others would be willing to pay more than I would though, based on their current market value. I guess the asking price would dictate if I went with a "built" 4T65e or swapped in a 4T80e.

Price would probably be $3500 for it. 3.29 set 3/8 pitch.
