Well on my 00 GP when I drive it cold it doesn't seem to shift to 4th or OD, I can be going 45-50 and it won't, if i let off the gas the rpms go down like its in OD, but i get on the gas even just very slightly it back in 3rd again. Its very smooth, and when it warms up a little bit will stop doing this. Feels very unnatural to me. Also when warmed up completely if I get on it a bit and it shifts gears in the 3.5 to 4.5k area it shift rough and kinda hard, noticeably for sure. Did on a 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd in that rpm range, so its not just one gear that does it. Doesn't seem to happen really when it ain't up to Operating temp. Only have 48k miles and good fluid level and color. Only other issue with this car is the idle sometimes bounces a bit, and is high when cold, which I would doubt is related.

How high is the idle when it is cold, the normal higher idle for being cold?
The transmission issue you mention is confusing. Does it stay in 4th once warm?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

1500-1700rpm cold normally it will start, go to 1400 or so for literally like 2 seconds, and like notch up to 1700ish, and settles down some maybe 30sec later. Also the trans issue is weird, ill try to explain. When you driving cold it will shift 1 2 3 normal, but not 4 and OD. While your on the gas it will stay in 3rd and not shift up. Its not slipping or backing up the shifts, its smooth. Rpm's will be kinda high because your doing 45-50 in 3rd gear. Rpms stay steady in third unless you let your foot COMPLETELY off the accelerator, which then the RPM drop to around what they would be in OD, then if you go back on the gas AT ALL, it will take 3rd again. I'm almost certain its in 3rd because i counted the shifts. When it warms up some (doesn't need to be operating temp) it will do 4th and OD normal again. Only issue when warm is that rough shifting at higher rpms's like i said. Doesn't seem to have any issues with 4 and OD when it warm.

See i have 4th gear, and hold it fine when warm, when its cold it just doesn't seem to want to be in 4th.

Are you sure it's not just the torque converter finally locking up once it warms up? I know on my 00 GT the converter won't lock until the trans reaches a certain temp, but it will go all the way into OD. Then when the converter locks the rpms drop a slight amount.

Can't be cause i count the shifts, and also rpm are high around 45-50 mph 2.5-3k. When it warm up and is normal its around 1500-1700 or so at 45-50

Update: Today i cleared codes even though i have 0 and live data. The car shifted like a dream, wasn't confused with 3rd anymore, didn't hesitate like it used too, and seemed to shift smooth under load when i got into it some. This happened last time i cleared everything with my scan tool, but it didn't last long, so i didn't think much of it. It will probably go back to its old ways soon, what the heck could be causing all this, and if i clear data it acts like it should?? Im puzzled

being the tranny is pissed off right now when you clear the codes the tranny needs to re learn, so it feels better, but like you said, it dont last.

Well it's not just the tranny, i got the hesitation pulling out sometimes like i mentioned in the other thread, and that is gone then too when i clear codes. Car is must happier as a whole after i clear codes-data. Even so, the tranny shifts smoothly all of the time, except for the 3-4k shifts that are a tad rough, but not every single time and no slip, and just doesn't know what gear it wants sometimes. No confusion in the tranny at all after codes clear, but like i said, don't take long for the problems to return, after the trans "relearns its bad behaviors"
