This is a cross-post from the tuning forum because I thought originally it was a tuning/computer issue.

-07 GT with 160K miles on it purchased in July. Looks decent mechanically.

-I immediately put in a 180 T-stat in it but up until about two weeks ago I could not change the fan point which were stupid high.

-Transmission has been as hot as 207F

-No tire spinning, nothing above 80-90MPH, have only done WOT during scans from a roll

    -No transmission slip whatsoever

-Currently torque management is off with shift settings and timing at stock

-No codes and scanned with a ELM327 (cheap wish.com scanner), HP tuner, and a cheap scantron I keep around.

-No MIL but the DIC will show "service vehicle soon" every so often. I will say that I have a ZZP downpipe and cat and I put into my tune that P0420 will check and post for errors but not show the light. To test against that I turned off the code completely at this point with a fresh tune.

The issue is that the shifts will either delay by about 1-2 seconds and cause a hard drop in RPM, the shifts are too firm, and sometimes it will hesitate when accelerating from a stop because it still is in second gear, and will then thud back into first only to drop firmly into second again. Also very rarely it will shutter hard upon acceleration and feels almost like a single cylinder misfire. All of this i intermittent and half the time the transmission shifts and acts normal.

I checked the fluid a few weeks ago and it seemed fine but now it smells burnt and looks only a little burnt (still clear). I plan on doing a pan-off and replacing the trans filter and whatever fluid I get out of it (other posts say about 7 or so) tomorrow.

I guess I will really know if this is a lost cause if I find material/pieces when I drop the pan.

Is there anything else I should look into? I thought of checking the harness from the outside to see if any leads are brittle or if any grounds are not where they should be.

I swapped the filter and 7qt. of fluid. No shavings, chunks, flakes, or glitter but the magnet and fluid was saturated in metal dust (imagine clutch material). Fluid was real dark and thick. Car drives better in the short test drive I performed. Hopefully it helps long term.
