While changing the lower control arm on the passenger side, I managed to pull the axle out from the trans, separating the boot. Was able to stuff it back in and re-seat the boot, but could not manage to get the boot clamp re-installed. I need to take it to my mechanic for the alignment and have him reinstall the clamp, is it safe to drive it ten or so miles with no clamp on the boot?

I would use a couple of good zip ties at the least and get them as tight as possible. The only real issue is if it leaks the grease all over.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

So in searching for a replacement clamp, I realized that I have used similar clamps in the past from Oetiker. They get their final tension from crimping a small area on the clamp. I was able to un-deform the crimp area, install it back on the boot, them re-crimp it to tighten. Problem solved!
