Some of the 91-94 se grandprixs with the 3.1 came with 5 spds from the factory.Look for those if possible to do your swap.

People have done them in 97-03, they came in 1st gen W-Bodies, so I'll say definitely yes.

The getrag 284 in the '91-'94 Grand Prixs were optional on the GTP's, STE's, and SE's...Designed to be the successor to the Getrag 282 (as found on pre-90 model year cars with the 2.8 & 3.1) and is more durable compared to the predecessor. So yes you can easily swap either the 282 or the 284 into your '95 GTP.

So, I wonder then if anyone has done it on a newer one, like 97?

I imagine in a 1st gen it's pretty easy since there are factory parts to do it. For 2nd gens it's a lot more custom work for mounts and such. I believe there is a mix of parts from a couple of different cars to get the axles and clutch to work.

its not hard, you need 97 gt or se axles and you need to modify the master by making the clutch rod longer, you also need to make one weld for the clutch pedal

That's not that bad. I read about doing a 6 speed swap and the guy ended up going with custom length axles.

You'd have to tune all of the auto stuff out.

Yes, but is that easily doable with the OBD II?

What about in a 3rd gen? 2004+ has anyone tried that before?

I have a 284 with ~110k miles and ALL the necessary swap parts (axles, shifter, cables, pedal bracket etc) from a '92 Z34 if anyone is interested. Also have a brand new clutch and flywheel from an LQ1 longblock. I tried posting this in the for sale section but I don't have enough posts yet. Let me know if interested. Thanks.
