gotta love Gm two different spellings for the same word...

anyways getting reall close to firing up Al's Jyard hauler/DD
    (former) 2.8/125c car

    lots of small custom sh!7

machine down 440T4 hall effect VSS housing to make a 3/16ths spacer to bolt the 125c mechanical speedo housing and gov shaft into the 440t4, worked perfect, even counterbored the 440 sliver to locate the 125c housing

reworked (cut weld/spacer) broken rear mount to bolt to side pan of 440t4 (left it broken )

removed rubber mount from front mount, cut and welded it solid since it was locate 1 inch farther forward.

moved diff to engine bracket over to the other holes in the block, fit perfect, left 1 bolt out

deleted pan sump for the trans ciculation pump that was used with it from when it was in the rear of the 442.

put in the 2.8l/125c TV cable

rework trans cooler lines from 442 install to work with D side radiator fittings

rewired 440t4 5 wire round connector to the 125c's harness

now lets see how the great rig fest turns out...

X yer fingers folks, smoke test's comming up...

we had used the 440T4 inner tulip (plunge joint) and axle shaft with the 125c/ciera outter CV for the drivers side, on the passenger side we used the 125c/ciera outter CV and the shaft with the 440t4 inner tulip

worked great till the test drive...the passenger axle despite using the shorter 125c shaft was too long on left turns the inner tripod/plunge joint would bottom out...removing the axle nuts confirmed this with the car on the ground...i was able to compress the drivers side over an inch...the passenger side budged MAYBE an 1/8th of an inch...
have a new 88 ciera 2.8/440t4 shaft (64$ with the JA8 brakes) on the way...

total cost for swap.... <180$ (and i shouldnt be counting the PM items but i did) a new CPS, just cause its a ***** in car...new spark plug wires, and a little hose...

we did get all 4 gears on the test drive before we parked it due to the axle issue...

BTW the welded mounts make it idle like a lumpy cam lol

it was funny messin with ya lol just remember we made Al's wife amanda do the same thing...but with the tires on the ground now that was funny....

    PICS!
the death of the 125c...drove it to my place with 1st gear only, its now torn apart and the alum&case is in my scrap pile

mech speedo drive for the 125c on left, 440T4 VSS on the right

millled down the 440t4 housing to act as the 3/16ths spacer for the 125 mech housing ...hey the speedo works!

    the whole shebang hooked up

    Reworked rear mount

    welded front trans mount

reworked the 440t4 cable bracket for the longer 125c cable...hey it works lol

purdy aint she? (the whole car has ~500$ in it and has been beaten to death and comes back fer more ...)

left to right, Al, Dave (02bluegt), Dennis (DoubleD99GS) my fatass is hiding behind the camera lol

Al lounging around...gotta love how cheap this car is...heater core was 20$, blower motor was 14$ the RF axle costs 64$
the best Jyard beater around...now we just need a few different colored doors

it was an AC Delco hoist and engine stand that Al's wife bought him as a wedding (funeral for us bachelors) present. she got it from autozone, i dont know if they still make or carry it but it's deffinatly worth it... much better made than the HF cheapo's.

yeah the magnet looks like DD's old mohawk

I asked my wife just before we got married if she had ever saw the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral. She said no. I said dont bother, it was five of the same thing.

Ive been in the dog house ever since.

should update this... put in new Pass side axle (was almost 2 1/2 in shorter) and al drove it for 4 days no problem all 4 gears...now we suddenly have only 1 & 2nd, 3rd is just neutral (damnit!) i've gotta go over the diagram and check further into the 90 440t4's 2nd,3rd,4th gear switches see if i missed something the 90 has that the 88 440t4 wouldnt (other than 2nd gear switch)
the 2.8L/125c ECM only has TCC... we may have to run a 2.8L/440t4 ECM/EPROM

thats just asking fer lady luck to pee in my cheerios

btw the new drill bit turned out 1 perfect FPR housing... i may be taking it back to dress the FRP shoulder dia smaller for better fitment of the retainer screws...
...but yes houston we can weld the FPR housing to the front rail allowing for OE vac lines and simplified plumbing.... i also have the FPR housing at 1 inch of length for the weldon sets (prob shouldnt have cut all those blanks from the barstock...ohwell)

didja talk to john about that tapping machine?
